Arm Restraints

Arm restraints are used to secure the driver's arms in the even of an incident, this reduces the risk of injury caused by the drivers arms flying around the cockpit space. Arm restraints are not that commonly used in European motorsport (although they can be used in most categories) and are more often found in US based motorsport activities although they are starting to be more common over here. They are still more likely to be found in US led motorsport activities such as drag racing (and obviously Formula Student/SAE).

Arm restraints attach to the drivers harness and then Velcro around the drivers wrist. This secures the drivers arms without impeding on their reach and flexibility. In the event of an incident where the car goes up-side-down the drivers arms would normally fall or reach down outside of an open cockpit, the arm restraints prevent this from happening.

Arm restraints are homologated to an SFI standard (SFI 3.3) rather then to an FIA standard. Under Formula Student regulations your driver must use a set which are homologated to the SFI standard. We recommend the TRS arm restraints (please specify when ordering then that you need SFI 3.3 labelling).
